Overview

Kasar Devi & Jageshwar Dham, Uttarakhand

Tucked away in the Kumaon hills near Almora, Kasar Devi is a peaceful Himalayan escape known for its mountain views, pine forests, walking trails, cosy cafés and the historic Kasar Devi Temple. Over the years, the village has attracted artists, writers, spiritual seekers and travellers looking to slow down and experience a quieter side of Uttarakhand.

A beautiful drive through the Kumaon hills takes you to Jageshwar Dham, an ancient temple complex surrounded by towering deodar forests. Home to more than a hundred stone temples dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, Jageshwar brings together history, spirituality, traditional architecture and nature in a setting that feels far removed from busy city life.

With Queer Travelogue, this journey is about more than sightseeing. It’s about slow mornings in the mountains, forest walks, café conversations, ancient temples, Himalayan sunsets and travelling with a welcoming LGBTQ+ community. Our Kasar Devi & Jageshwar queer group trip offers LGBTQ+ travellers and allies an opportunity to explore Kumaon together while connecting with new people and creating meaningful travel memories.

Itinerary

Meet your co-travelers at the boarding point in Delhi (Akshardham Metro Station, reporting time: 10:30 PM) in the evening and start your overnight journey to Binsar. This trip is designed as a safe and inclusive space for queer travelers, so get ready to socialize, share stories and begin this memorable journey of queer travel in India.

Arrive in Binsar, Uttarakhand in the morning and begin your little escape into the Kumaon hills.

After reaching the drop-off point, a short 10-15 minute walk through nature will take you to our beautiful hotel/homestay. Hidden away from the main road and inaccessible by large travellers or buses, the property offers a peaceful setting surrounded by nature and beautiful views of the Kumaon Himalayas.

Check in, settle into your rooms and take some time to rest after the overnight journey from Delhi.

In the evening, gather in the garden for a special Canvas Painting Session. You don't need to be an artist or even know how to paint. Pick up a brush, give it a try and let the mountains around you be your inspiration.

As the day slows down, witness a beautiful Himalayan sunset over the Kumaon hills.

Later enjoy a cosy bonfire, music and conversations with your fellow travellers, followed by dinner.

Wake up to fresh mountain air and begin your morning with a beautiful sunrise in the Kumaon hills.

After breakfast, get ready for a day exploring some of the region's most fascinating spiritual and cultural landmarks.

Our first major stop is Jageshwar Dham, an ancient temple complex tucked away amidst towering deodar forests. Walk through the historic stone temples, experience the peaceful surroundings and take some time to simply absorb the atmosphere of this centuries-old sacred site.

Later, visit the famous Chitai Golu Devta Temple near Almora, known for the thousands of bells and letters left by devotees seeking blessings and expressing gratitude.

After a day of exploring, return to the property by evening and slow things down.

Gather around the bonfire, share stories from the day and spend some relaxed time with your Queer Travelogue community.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel/homestay and head towards Kasar Devi near Almora, one of the most fascinating stops on our Kumaon journey.

Visit the iconic Kasar Devi Temple, perched on a hill overlooking the surrounding valleys and Himalayan landscape. The area has long been associated with spirituality, meditation and seekers from around the world.

We'll spend some quiet time here with a 30-minute meditation session, giving ourselves a chance to sit still, gather our thoughts and experience the peaceful surroundings before beginning the journey home.

Afterwards, continue towards Delhi with lunch en route at your own expense.

But the mountains aren't quite finished with us yet.

We'll make a stop at Bhimtal, where you'll have some free time to walk around the beautiful lake, explore nearby cafés, grab something to eat or simply sit by the water with the people you've spent the last few days getting to know.

Later at night, continue the journey towards Delhi.

Arrive in Delhi in morning around 6 AM, marking the end of our Binsar, Jageshwar Dham & Kasar Devi group trip from Delhi.

While the trip may come to an end, the memories, friendships and sense of belonging created here will stay with you much longer.

At Queer Travelogue, we don’t just curate trips, we create safe spaces, chosen families, and experiences that make people feel seen, accepted, and connected. 🌈
