Hidden in the eastern Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh, Kinnaur Valley is a land of dramatic mountain roads, apple orchards, traditional Himalayan villages and landscapes that seem to change around every corner. Far from the usual Himachal tourist trail, Kinnaur offers a beautiful mix of nature, local culture and slow mountain life.
Our journey takes us through Sangla Valley, along the beautiful Baspa River, to Chitkul, one of the last inhabited villages near the Indo-Tibetan border, before continuing to Kalpa, known for its spectacular views of the Kinner Kailash mountain range.
With Queer Travelogue, this isn’t just another road trip to Himachal. It’s a few days of travelling through the mountains with fellow LGBTQ+ folks and allies, sharing long drives, exploring little villages, watching Himalayan sunsets, sitting around together in the evenings and making new connections along the way.

Meet your fellow travellers at the designated pickup point in Delhi on the evening of 16th Oct (reporting time 7 PM)
After a quick introduction, settle into the traveller/bus and begin our overnight journey towards the beautiful Kinnaur Valley in Himachal Pradesh.
As we leave the city behind, get to know your fellow travellers and get ready for the next few days of mountains, road trips and new experiences.
Overnight journey from Delhi to Sangla
This trip is designed as a safe and inclusive space for queer travelers in India.
Continue our journey through the changing landscapes of Himachal Pradesh as we gradually make our way deeper into the mountains.
The road towards Kinnaur itself is part of the experience, with winding mountain roads, deep valleys, rivers and dramatic Himalayan landscapes accompanying us along the way.
Reach Sangla Valley by evening or night and check into our hotel.
After the long journey, there are no sightseeing plans for today. Freshen up, settle in and meet everyone over a relaxed dinner.

🏨 Overnight stay in Sangla
Wake up surrounded by the mountains and enjoy breakfast at the property.
We begin the day by exploring Sangla, a beautiful town in the Baspa Valley surrounded by mountains, forests and apple orchards. Spend some time discovering the village and experiencing the slower rhythm of life in Kinnaur.
Later, get ready for one of the highlights of our Kinnaur Valley trip, Chitkul.
Drive through the beautiful Baspa Valley towards Chitkul, passing through mountain landscapes and small Himalayan settlements along the way.
Spend time exploring Chitkul village, walking through its traditional lanes and enjoying the landscapes surrounding the Baspa River. There will also be some free time to find a little café, take photographs or simply sit back and enjoy being in the mountains.
Later, drive back to Sangla.
The evening is ours to relax, share stories from the day and spend some time together as a group.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin our drive towards Kalpa, another beautiful Himalayan village in Kinnaur.
Reach Kalpa and check into the hotel before heading out to explore the village and its surroundings.
Walk through the quiet lanes, experience traditional Kinnauri architecture and take in the magnificent views of the Kinner Kailash mountain range that Kalpa is famous for.
Depending on our arrival time and weather, spend the evening watching the mountains change colour as the sun begins to set.
Return to the property for our final night together in Kinnaur.

Wake up to your final morning in Kinnaur.
Enjoy breakfast with the mountains around you before checking out from the hotel.
Take one last look at the Kinner Kailash range, click those final group pictures and begin the long drive back towards Delhi.
The journey back gives us plenty of time to rest, look through hundreds of photographs from the trip and probably start planning where the group should travel together next.
